Acceptable use
Last reviewed 27 October 2026 (registering files added).
KolTheia only works if people can trust a seal. These rules protect that trust. They are part of the terms of service.
Do
- Capture only what you have the right to capture, with the camera inside KolTheia.
- Say what a seal shows and no more: that a file is unchanged since it was sealed, and when and by which device. It does not show that what the picture shows is true.
- Say what a registration shows and no more: that these exact bytes were registered by your account first, at that time. It does not show that you made the file or own it.
- Keep your password and passkeys to yourself, and give a real email address that you control.
- Tell us if you find a way to misuse KolTheia or a weakness in it (see security).
Do not
- Deceive. Do not use KolTheia to mislead people: for example by staging a scene and presenting its seal as proof that it was real, by pointing the camera at a screen or print and presenting it as the original, or by using someone else's proof code as if it were yours.
- Claim someone else's work. Do not register a file someone else made and present the registration as proof that it is yours, and do not put someone else's private information in a file's name or description: they are shown on its certificate.
- Capture what you must not. Do not capture or seal material that is illegal, that you have no right to record, or that shows someone in a private place or situation without their consent where the law requires it.
- Harass or harm. Do not use KolTheia to threaten, stalk, harass or expose anyone, or to label a capture with someone else's private information. Labels are public.
- Impersonate. Do not pick a username that pretends to be another person or organisation.
- Attack or overload the service. No scanning for weaknesses outside the good-faith rules on the security page, no flooding, no automated sign-ups, no trying to get past the "are you a person?" check or the rate limits.
- Read other people's data. Do not try to reach other people's accounts, records, files or exact locations, or to guess codes or passwords.
- Strip or fake credentials. Do not tamper with a sealed file or a certificate and present the result as a KolTheia seal, and do not feed a prepared video or photo into the camera to get a seal.
What happens if the rules are broken
We may refuse a request, suspend an account, or end it. We may tell the authorities about illegal use where the law requires or allows it. Records already written to the public log stay in it (see the privacy notice).
Reporting
If you see misuse, write to koltheia@ottxp.com with the proof code or the page address. For a security weakness, use the security page instead.
